lessons learned: just get out there
This post is part of the discussion series titled The Path to Healthy Living Through the Great Outdoors. The point of these topics is not for just me to just share them and move on, but rather to foster some discussion on these ideas and how they apply in "your" life. We're not sitting around the same table, but we can still have a discussion. Just leave your own thoughts in the comments below, or send them to me privately if you prefer. You'll find a complete list of all the topics at the end of this post.
The obstacles ahead of us wanting to start down a new path can seem insurmountable. And they will be, if we don’t take that first step, if we don’t just get out there.
I’ve joked in the past about how I can’t fail if I don’t try. And there are times I still feel that way about different challenges. It’s not always easy to take that first step, that’s where many of the previous lessons come into play. Hopefully they give you some of the inspiration and confidence to take those first steps.
When thinking about this, I can’t help but recall the “Put one foot in front of the other” scene from the animated classic, Santa Clause is Coming to Town. We may need encouragement from others, or maybe we can tackle it on our own, but the only way we’ll make progress is by getting out there, taking that first step.
The steps you make don’t need to be big, they just need to take you in the right direction.
Is there a challenge you’re currently facing? Maybe even avoiding? What can we do to help? Let us know in the comments.
